VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES:

WALKING SCORER SHIFT: Thursday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Record the scores and statistics of play on a Cellular Device during competitive rounds

Requirements:

Volunteers should be comfortable with a handheld tech device

Volunteers must attend the tournament training class or make arrangements to be trained by the Walking Scorer Chairperson

Golf knowledge and ability to walk 18 holes

MARSHAL SHIFT: Thursday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Provide gallery control for the Tournament

Ensuring players’ safe and easy access from hole to hole and to signal the gallery for quiet as players address the ball to make their shot

Fairway ball spotting, measuring drives and signaling to avoid balls from being lost

Great opportunity for groups, golf courses, or friends to be represented on a hole

Requirements:

Ability to walk short and long distances

Ability to stand for a period of time

ADMISSIONS/WILL CALL SHIFT: Thursday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Assist with checking for proper admission credentials

Hand out pairing sheets at all entrance gates and provide general information to spectators

Assist with distribution of credentials that have been ordered in advance or left for pickup for future rounds

Requirements:

Ability to stand for several hours and interact with crowds

CADDIES/PRACTICE AREA SHIFT: Monday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Assist with Professional Caddie registration and caddie services throughout tournament week

Provide gallery control of the practice areas and to regulate access to and from all practice facilities for the contestants and tournament officials

Requirements:

Ability to drive golf cart. General golf/caddie knowledge

CORPORATE HOSPITALITY SHIFT: Thursday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Be present in Corporate Hospitality venues throughout tournament rounds to ensure clients are receiving a true VIP experience

Act as liaison between corporate clients and tournament staff

Requirements:

Ideal for volunteer who needs to be out of sun or sit

OPERATIONS SHIFT: Week prior event and week of event

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation of scoreboards and video display boards, player fencing, and other various projects as necessary

Shuttle players from one green to another

Requirements:

Highly active volunteer positions, heavy lifting is required

Knowledge of power tools is helpful but not required

Ability to lift 25-35lbs of products (ice, beverages and coolers)

SCORING CENTRAL SHIFT: Wednesday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Record and transmit scores from on course

Work with PGA TOUR Staff and Rules to ensure all scores are correct

Ensure that official scorecards are verified and signed by the professionals

Requirements:

General golf knowledge

Focus for long periods of time

Light walking and standing

STANDARD BEARER SHIFT: Thursday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Accompany each group of players during play and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis

Requirements:

Standard Bearers must be able to carry the standard (weight approximately 5 to 7 pounds) for the length of the course

Must be at least 13 years old or have strong knowledge of golf etiquette (Ideal role for younger volunteers)

VOLUNTEER SERVICE SHIFT: Monday to Sunday

Responsibilities:

Uniform distribution prior to the event

Meet, greet, and direct volunteers to check-in areas

Setup tables, chairs, and maintain volunteer tent

Service the volunteer tent including, stocking water, snacks, and food service

Requirements:

VOLUNTEER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

How many days/hours are the minimum for volunteer work?

There is no set minimum, however we ask each volunteer to donate at least 12 hours of their time (either two half days or one full day).

What does the fee cover?

The volunteer fee will cover a golf shirt, hat, breakfast and/or lunch depending on schedule, two (2) weekly tournament passes, two (2) daily tournament passes, free parking, and invitation for volunteer appreciation party (plus one).

What is the minimum age for volunteers?

The minimum age for volunteers is 13 years of age.

If something comes up and I can no longer volunteer, do I get a refund?

Yes. You will be issued a refund if you cancel before May 15th, 2020 (one month before event). Please email open@shamrockse.com to request a refund.

Can I watch golf when not working?

Yes. Your volunteer credential will serve as your admission pass for the entire week and we encourage you to use it. We do ask that you not wear your uniform when not on duty, so please bring a change of clothes if you plan to spectate before or after your shift.

 

Where do I park when volunteering?

Please refer to an event map, confirmation e-mail, or ask whomever is directing traffic for volunteer parking locations.

If I purchased tickets and then became a volunteer, can I refund my tickets?

No, all ticket sales are final as proceeds immediately go directly to charity.

 

Can I request to be scheduled at the same time as family or friends?

We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests. Make sure to list your request in the 'comments' section of your application. Please email open@shamrockse.com if you need to amend any information.

What if I cannot attend the training session?

Please make every effort to attend training. However, if you are unable to attend your committee chair will provide you with the necessary information.

Where will I find the volunteer schedule?

Committee assignments will begin no later than May 15th. We will send you a confirmation email with your committee assignment and chair contact information prior to the tournament.

What should I bring?

You should arrive wearing your volunteer uniform and credential. Many volunteers also like to bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.

Where can I get something to eat/drink?

Food and drink will be in the volunteer headquarters, located next to the clubhouse. Please refer to your confirmation email or an event map for the precise location of volunteer headquarters.

When will I get my uniform?

You will receive your uniform at the volunteer training. If you are unable to attend volunteer training, you will receive your uniform at your first volunteer shift.

Can I purchase extra uniform items?

Yes, you may purchase an additional shirt at the time of registration. When choosing your uniform there will be an optional section to purchase 1-4 extra shirts.

What if they don’t fit?

If you find you need a different uniform size at the time of distribution, you may visit the uniform table in the volunteer headquarters to ask for an exchange of sizes. However, please note that we cannot guarantee your new requested size will be available. To help ensure the proper sizing is ordered for you, please consult the size guide provided on your registration. You may also visit the uniform table in the volunteer headquarters during the tournament week. Please refer to your confirmation email or an event map for precise location of the volunteer headquarters.

What if it rains?

The event will go on rain or shine and we will need your help. Make sure to report to your committees check-in location 15-20 minutes before your shift. Any weather delays or cancellations will be communicated directly to you by your committee chair.
